		<description>FWIW I read the French translation you provided.  I don&#039;t think it proves that Marcionites were still alive in the eighth century or that the author met members of this sect.  It just seems like he assembled some information about the various religions and pretended he traveled the world to meet them.  You&#039;d figure if he had actually met these religions he&#039;d contribute some useful tidbits rather than the most generic information about the sects.  No names, places, anecdotes.  It&#039;s probably based on the most limited firsthand knowledge of the sects.</description>
