This otherwise unknown West Syrian (monophysite) author has left an imaginative "Life of Abel" (ET). He is probably not the same man as the Symmachus who wrote a commentary on "Song of Songs" 6:10-end, to supplement that of the Syriac translation of Gregory of Nyssa's commentary on that book.
