From my diary

I’m stuck at home with a headache-inducing virus still, and getting very bored and frustrated.  Unfortunately I can’t do much without setting it off again.  Health is something we all take for granted, until we lose it!  I’m not being paid while I sit here, so I urgently want to go back to work.

I saw a news story today about a woman who stood behind a policeman and said “bang bang”.  She was promptly arrested and charged with a public order offence.  Thank heavens she didn’t say “poof poof”, eh?

Yesterday I encountered Nonius Marcellus, the late Roman dictionary writer.  While trying to locate the text and understand what I was dealing with, I ended up rewriting the Wikipedia article on Nonius Marcellus, and adding lots of the data I found.  After all, if I found it useful, probably others will.

  1. Dear Roger: sorry to hear you are sick.

For a virus, you may try chopping up fresh garlic in a salad, or putting a lot of it in a pasta dish. It is well-known as an anti-viral and can also lower blood pressure to relieve headaches from sinus/pressure.

I hope you are following the Biblical food-laws, as they are quite effective for many eating disorders/ailments.

The nitrites and nitrates in processed meat (pork, ham, bacon) are carcenogenic and cause high blood-pressure too, contributing to headaches.

The food additives, MSG (monosodium glutamate)and especially preservatives like potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate are very bad for blood pressure and headaches (they are also addictive and cause withdrawal symptoms). This crap is snuck in everywhere, even in yogurts so read the labels.

Once you beat the virus off, you can keep it out with a change of diet.

Unclean animals as pets are also a major cause of illness, not just undetected allergies, but also secondary problems like dust-mites and fleas transmit disease. The Canadian govt. just issued a major health warning against pregnant women handling cat feces, because it is so toxic that it causes miscarriages.

If you can remove some of the more significant factors contributing to your predicament, you may heal faster too.

    peace

  2. I find that listening to Dowland CDs is very good for headaches. Helps me go to sleep, too. Something about lute, harmony, etc….

    Get well soon!
